Having trained in sculpture and with a degree in fine art, I went on to work exclusively in theatre for many years.
From the paint shop at Leicester Haymarket to the Edinburgh Festival, all over Germany as well as bits of France, Belgium, Switzerland and Spain... I worked as a set designer, lighting designer, created special effects, puppets and props for many theatre productions, until getting the chance to become an Artist in Residence at The Castle in Wellingborough.
Animals have always featured strongly in my work and I like to emphasise the theatricality of my subject matter.
Recycling scrap materials and reinventing mundane objects is also an important part of my work.
in 2019 I relocated to the Viaur Valley, Aveyron in southern France.
Stepping off the treadmill of daily life and creating a workshop at home among the trees is where I've always wanted to be. I have the time and space to create and to be inspired by stunning surroundings and my daily dog walks.
